The Department of Social Welfare Department has launched a scheme “Contributory Social Security Scheme” for marginal workers to provide them social security. Under the scheme Rs. 100/- is contributed by the Govt. and equal amount by the beneficiaries and account is opened for the period of 10 years. After completion of this period the beneficiary can withdraw accumulated amount along with interest.

Benefits of Contributory Social Security Scheme for marginal workers
- The contribution by the State and the beneficiary is @ Rs. 100/- each per month shall be made for a period of 10 years into the account of beneficiaries.
- The beneficiary will not be entitled to draw any amount from the deposit till maturity. However, in case of his/her death, the accumulated amount will be disbursed to the beneficiaries nominee.
- The beneficiary on completion of 10 years will cease to be a member of the scheme and shall have the option to will draw the entire deposited amount or reinvested in a pension as may be worked out by the J&K Bank.
- All concerned are requested to approach concerned Distt. Social Welfare Officers/Tehsil Social Welfare Officers for collection of application forms and others details immediately so that they start taking benefit of the scheme
Eligibility Criteria for Contributory Social Security Scheme for marginal workers
- A permanent resident of J&K State shall be eligible to participate under the scheme.
- The beneficiaries income should not exceed to Rs 30,000/- per annum.
- The beneficiaries engaged in the following occupations are eligible under the scheme:
- Agriculture/Non-agriculture labours
- Bahach Hanji and Shikara Wallas
- Barbers
- Craftsmen
- Cow and Goat Herds
- Fishermen/Boatmen excluding house boat owners
- Grati (Rural)
- Markabans
- Lohar/Masons/Tarkhans
- Persons engaged in unclean occupations
- Rehri Wallas/Street Vendors
- Shaksaz
- Shoe repairs (without aid of machines)
- Teelis (Rural only)
- Village Potters (Kumhars)
- Village Washer man
- Weavers
- Age of the beneficiary should not be below 21 years
- The applicant or his spouse should not be beneficiary of the existing scheme
- The beneficiaries spouse shall not be eligible to participate in the scheme.
- State-subject Certificate
- Proof of age issued by School Board of Education, Educational Institution last attended or Block Medical Officer in the case of illiterate persons
- Certificate of professional and income from Revenue Department not below the rank of Tehsildar or from the Administrator/Chairman of the concerned local self Government Body or from the Sarpanch of the concerned Panchayat
- Affidavit in the form Contributory Social Security Scheme – 2
- Four pass port size photographs.
- 6 Option in form Contributory Social Security Scheme – 3.
How To Apply for Contributory Social Security Scheme for marginal workers
Application for participation in the scheme shall be made in the prescribed form Contributory Social Security Scheme –I.
